The Samsung CLP 510n printer using Samsung CLP 510n toner is yet another winner for Samsung’s series of color laser prints. It follows in the footsteps of CLP-510s, but with extra speed, a faster processor and some minor hardware changes that have created an improved product.
There is one thing you need to understand from the start about this printer. It is not designed for home users. The printer is big and a bit more expensive if you are used to printers designed for the casual consumer. For a color laser printer it is actually very affordable.
This machine will meet all your expectations and more as long as you are not expecting Kodak picture perfect quality. It does not do that, but you simply would not expect it in an office color laser printer anyway. Having said that, the quality is great for anything but the most demanding projects.
The improvements Samsung has made to this printer are easy to see, mainly in the speed department. The previous CLP-550s were working at 21 pages per minute in black and white and five pages per minute in color. The latest Samsung CLP-510n printer has increased this speed to 25 pages per minute for black and white and seven pages per minute in color. The duplexing speed has also dropped by two or three seconds to 13 seconds for mono and 21 seconds in full color. Duplexing, in case you are wondering, is the ability of double-sided printing, which is great if you want to save time, toner and paper.
The other big change from the previous models is its chip. The PowerPC processor of previous models has been changed to a Samsung SPGPm processor. However, the previous models could hold nearly twice the amount of RAM and were one decibel quieter. The change in the price tag had to be felt somewhere I guess. It is worth remembering that this printer only costs $120.
The new CLP 510n has great image quality, although not if you are expecting picture perfect quality. If you were planning to use the office printer to get your holiday snapshots you might be disappointed. However, although not picture perfect, they are still very good.
The big point is the price. As mentioned above, many customers might feel it is pricey, but that is because they are comparing it with home use black and white laser printers. For a color printer it is cheap. You will also make savings in the cartridge maintenance with cheaper than normal prices that run around $100 and $120 for mono and full color toners.
The Samsung CLP 510n is an excellent trade off in price, speed and image quality. If you need a fast, high quality printer at a reasonable price you are going to enjoy this one.
For all other tasks, the Samsung CLP 510N printer toner cartridges does just what you could want, produce clear sharp text and graphics. Color prints are also excellent with Samsung laser toner, just not what you get with super high-end machines. Finding new ink and toner is easy and inexpensive online.
