Ever since the 1st apparition of Our Woman happened in Medjugorje in year 1981, this little town became one of the most vital destinations for pilgrims in the whole world. Regardless of their age, nationality, color, education, and even spiritual believes, people from the whole world are coming to Medjugorje to find peace and sense of life. A call from Medjugorje is generally an individual call. Millions have left this town with a grin on their face, and strength to go back to their each day routine. WHY NEW YEAR’S EVE IN MEDJUGORJE?

Young people are folks on the go, people with fresh ideas, strength and wish to make a difference. Pretty soon they become bored with false things, commercialized events and folks who need to take advantage of them.

When a person comes to Medjugorje he feels special and understood. He feels accepted and protected. He feels young, no matter how old he is. coming to Medjugorje is like returning home, like going back to the happy youth (regardless of if you never had it…). It is a coming to your mum. Our Woman has been inviting us (for about 30 years now) to take her hand, to allow her help us. It is a time of decisions, a time to choose for God. WHO IS INVITED?

In Medjugorje Our Woman addresses her messages to her dear kids. She never declared : “Dear Catholics”, or “Dear Americans” or anything like that…She always asserts : “Dear children…” Each human is Her child, and a call from Medjugorje is certain to be an individual call. Each individual has been invited for so many times by Our Woman.

It is generally a challenge, especially for youngsters, to try something new, something they never tried before. This is another way of spending the common event. Sometimes it takes courage to do something different , and it’s customarily the young that dare to contribute.

Programme

Night of prayer : 31.12. :

At 700 pm there’s a melodramatic play in front of the Church of St James given by young lads and lasses from the Cenacolo Community (community of previous drug addicts). The area round the church becomes Betlehem for one or two hours and you can see those vital moments in Mary’s and Joseph’s lives, including the night when Jesus was born.

Prayer begins at 10 pm in the church of St. James. First there’s an Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Altar followed by the central event of the programme, the Holy Mass. At about midnight it is the moment when the bread and vine are turned into the body and blood of Jesus. The instant when the miracle occurs. In those moments fireworks display in our hearts! That’s how we will enter into a new year.
