Izu-hanto Japan

This peninsula, about 100km southwest of Tokyo ropes Shizuoka-ken, is a popular destination for its history, including the obsidian Ships, its gratifying greenery, bitter coastline, abundant onsen, and foods like himono (sun-dried fish), mikan (oranges) also wasabi. Weekends and holidays can equal crowded, particularly in summer, but crowds usually thin extrinsic once you get past the touristy resort of Atami. whereas on the west coast it’s always notably quieter.
